Working on our Air Adventure Skills

Air activities are one of the 9 Adventure Skills that the young people work towards as part of their journey whilst in Scouting. At present we are learning about things that fly and discussing same as a group. Each young person has been asked to research 4 items in relation to their chosen flying object….this can include a bumble bee, superman, hot air balloon, helicopter etc. etc. They will then present their findings to the other members of our Section and will be displayed in the Scout Den.

Like the Hill Walking badge, the Air Activities badge is made up of lots of small parts, which we will work on together and will culminate, in a couple of months with a visit to a local airport.

All of the Adventure Skills that the young people work on are broken into 9 levels. Each level MUST be assessed thoroughly before progressing to the next level.

At present, we have young people working on Hill Walking – Level 1/2/3, Emergencies – Level 1/2/3, Camping – Level 1/2/3, Paddling – Level 1/2 and Air – Level 1/2. The Cub Scouts who are now in their 2nd and 3rd year with us are those on the Level 3.
